Eureka Math²®: Covers Redesign —
Eureka Math² is Great Minds’ Pre-K to Algebra 1 math curriculum. The math program has six (6) modules per grade level, each of which includes the Teach book for instructors and the Learn and Apply books for students.
While I was not heavily involved in Eureka Math² during my time as a designer at Great Minds, I still had the pleasure of working with the team on the redesigns for Eureka Math² California and Eureka Math² Florida. Redesigns for these two (2) states were done to accommodate new state customizations.

Eureka Math²® Original
The original covers for Eureka Math² feature a work of fine art for each grade and module.
Though the design is minimal and beautiful, there were some pain points that were brought up. Some of those included the lack of differentiation between the Learn and Apply books, as well as the grade level and module level sharing the design weight when one of them should hold more prominence.
Design Process
For the redesign, the design team worked together to:
Create a new format that pays homage to the original design, but also is fresh and unique.
Source and use vibrant and state-specific imagery, including recognizable and lesser-known locations.
Make the Eureka Math² logo more prominent for overall brand recognition.
Utilize grade level-specific colors, specifically secondary colors, by developing a new color palette that would keep the consistency throughout the products.
Ensure that the module number was more prominent than the grade level, especially since the latter is distinguishable by the grade level-specific colors.
When it comes to my personal design process, I like to start off my ideation on paper first. I came up with a couple of iterations in my sketchbook before I transferred it to a digital state.
Eureka Math²® California
Here is the final cover design for Eureka Math² California. I designed the chosen front cover while my fellow Associate Designer, Stella Tessarollo, designed the back cover.
Eureka Math²® Florida
Here is the final cover design for Eureka Math² Florida. Using the Eureka Math² California cover design, the visual design team sourced and utilized imagery from Florida to complete the redesigned cover.
